The shoji sliding panels
pictured to the left, were commissioned and installed in a new-build,
open-plan apartment in London. The shoji has been employed
attractively as a clever 'pseudo wall,' by the interior designer. In
this application, the shoji is both aesthetically and functionally
appealing.
This versatile shoji
set-up, allows the flexibility of dividing the single, large room in
several ways. It effectively enables the owner to create different moods
and atmospheres, at will. When open, the shoji presents a welcoming
spacious, airy, open-plan feel which is great for entertaining at home.
When closed, it creates a cosy, subtle, intimate environment, while
still retaining the light, comfortable appeal of a larger space.
